CBSE directs schools to update mandatory public disclosure details online

The Central Board of Secondary Education has asked all affiliated schools to update and upload Mandatory Public Disclosure details on their official websites using a revised format, according to an official notice.

The board said the move is aimed at improving transparency and ensuring that parents, students, and regulatory authorities can easily access verified and up-to-date information about schools.

Institutions have been instructed to publish accurate and complete data across multiple categories, including administration, academics, staff, and infrastructure.

Mandatory Public Disclosure requires schools to make key institutional information publicly available on their websites.

Under the updated guidelines, schools must upload general details such as the school’s name, affiliation number, and school code where applicable; full address with pin code; principal’s name and qualifications; official email ID; and contact numbers.

Schools are also required to upload self-attested copies of essential documents and certificates.

These include affiliation or upgradation letters and any recent extension of affiliation, registration, or renewal certificates of the society, trust, or company running the school, and the No Objection Certificate issued by the state government or Union Territory where applicable.

Recognition certificates under the Right to Education Act, 2009, along with renewals, valid building safety and fire safety certificates, District Education Officer certificates submitted for affiliation or school self-certification, and drinking water, health, and sanitation certificates with water testing reports must also be made public.

The board has specified that all uploaded documents must be self-attested by the chairman, manager, or secretary, along with the principal.

It warned that if any document is found to be not genuine at a later stage, the school will face action as per applicable norms.

In the academic section, schools must disclose their fee structure, annual academic calendar, lists of School Management Committee and Parents Teachers Association members, and board examination results for the last three years where applicable.

For Class 10 and Class 12, schools must clearly mention the number of registered students, the number of students who passed, the pass percentage, and any relevant remarks.

Detailed information about teaching staff is also mandatory. Schools must upload particulars of the principal, vice principal, and headmistress or headmaster, along with the total number of teachers.

Separate data must be provided for postgraduate teachers, trained graduate teachers, and primary teachers.

Additional disclosures include the teacher-to-section ratio, details of special educators, and information on counselors and wellness teachers.

Infrastructure-related disclosures must cover the total campus area in square meters, the number and size of classrooms and laboratories (including computer labs), library facilities, availability of internet connectivity, and the number of toilets for girls, boys, and children with special needs.

Schools must also provide a YouTube link to the school inspection video showcasing infrastructure.

CBSE has advised schools to verify all information carefully before uploading it, cautioning that incorrect or false disclosures may invite action under existing rules.
