Vijayawada records the highest pass percentage at 99.60, over 1.29 lakh students placed in the compartment category, and the overall success rate improves to 88.39% this year.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the Class 12 board exam results for 2025 on May 13.
As per the official release, the overall pass percentage stands at 88.39%, showing a slight improvement over the previous year.
Region-wise, Vijayawada recorded the highest pass percentage at 99.60%.
To qualify, students must secure a minimum of 33% marks in both theory and practical exams. In cases where students fall short by one or two marks, grace marks may be given.
“Girls outperformed boys by over 5 percentage points in CBSE Class 12 board exams,” said exam controller Sanyam Bhardwaj.
He added that over 115,000 students scored more than 90%, while more than 24,000 students achieved above 95%.
Despite the overall performance, more than 1.29 lakh students have been placed in the compartment category.
“Heartiest congratulations to all my young friends and their parents, who have successfully cleared the CBSE Class XII and Class X examinations,” Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan posted on X.
“This is a moment to rejoice and cherish the fruits of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Wishing all the next-gen leaders a happy, healthy, and bright future ahead,” he added.
The CBSE Class 12 results revealed notable regional differences in performance.
Vijayawada led with an impressive 99.60% pass rate, closely followed by Trivandrum at 99.32% and Chennai at 97.39%.
Other regions such as Bengaluru, Delhi West, and Delhi East also recorded commendable outcomes.
In contrast, lower pass percentages were seen in Bhubaneswar (83.64%), Noida (81.29%), and Prayagraj (79.53%), highlighting the need for additional academic intervention in these areas.
