The cabinet sanctioned 935 assistant education development officer posts, approved a residential school in Buxar-Rohtas, amended rules for polytechnic and engineering education services, expanded social welfare staffing, and allotted land to the Akshaya Patra Foundation to support mid-day meals in schools.
In a wide-ranging set of decisions aimed at bolstering public services and governance, the Bihar cabinet approved 47 agendas on June 3, covering education, urban development, welfare schemes, and administrative reforms.
The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, was the first in two weeks and marked a significant policy moment for the state.
Among key urban reforms, the cabinet approved the upgradation of Phulwari and Danapur Nagar Parishads to municipal corporations.
Substantial allocations were made to improve water supply infrastructure, with ₹1,130 crore cleared for Siwan, ₹497 crore for Aurangabad, ₹138 crore for Ara, and ₹76 crore for Sasaram.
In the education sector, the government cleared the establishment of a new residential school in the Buxar-Rohtas region.
It also sanctioned 935 posts for assistant education development officers and approved two key policy amendments, the Bihar Polytechnic Education Service Rules, 2025, and the Bihar Engineering Education Service Rules, 2025, in an effort to strengthen technical education.
In social welfare, the cabinet sanctioned 190 new positions to expand service delivery and approved the appointment of protection officers for supporting victims of domestic violence.
The cabinet also gave a green light to contract-based posts under the Bihar Jeevika Nidhi Credit Cooperative and created nine new posts in the agriculture service (Krishi Seva).
Administrative decisions included the sanctioning of 38 assistant land property officer posts and 15 clerk positions for the Bihar Public Service Commission.
Plans were also approved for establishing a District Organizing Area Officer Office in each district.
In law enforcement infrastructure, a housing project for senior police officers in Patna’s Chhajju Bagh received approval.
Further, the state granted land in Naubatpur to the Bengaluru-based Akshaya Patra Foundation to aid the expansion of mid-day meal services in government schools.
The cabinet also endorsed enhanced pay scales for central prohibition inspectors, implemented fire safety provisions under the Building Construction Department, and reduced Value Added Tax (VAT) on Aviation Turbine Fuel to support better air connectivity.
Two officials were dismissed from service: Jitendra Kumar, Drug Inspector of Patna-5, and Jatashankar Pandey, District Minority Officer of Jamui.
These decisions come amid growing attention on the state government’s administrative efficiency and delivery of essential services.
