Two-Year MBA Program Catering to Working Professionals.
IIM Ahmedabad
The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has launched a ground-breaking initiative introducing a new two-year Online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. This program is specifically designed for working professionals and entrepreneurs seeking a harmonious balance between their demanding work commitments and ambitious professional aspirations.
The Online MBA program adopts a hybrid approach, combining in-person sessions on campus with live interactive online sessions. This innovative blend aims to provide flexibility for participants while ensuring the richness of on-campus interaction. The program is tailored for a seasoned cohort of participants, requiring a minimum of three years of professional experience. The course will consist of 80% online and 20% offline components, including a one-month campus tour.
Two sections will hold 120-160 students for the first session of classes starting in September, said IIMA officials during a virtual media interaction with Education Post. This program is a post-graduate degree program aimed at working professionals and entrepreneurs. It is designed to cater to those who do not want to take a break from work or relocate to attend an on-campus program. The duration of the program is two years, and the total cost is approximately Rs 20 lakhs.
True to the IIMA pedagogy, the program primarily follows a case-based learning approach. This method places a strong emphasis on applied learning, ensuring participants acquire the knowledge and skills essential for success in today’s dynamic business environment. The curriculum focuses on managerial decision-making frameworks grounded in human behavior, economics, finance, and more.
Professor Bharat Bhasker, Director of IIMA, expressed enthusiasm about the program’s launch. He highlighted how this initiative expands IIMA’s global reach, providing world-class education to professionals and entrepreneurs worldwide. The innovative program combines the flexibility of online learning with the richness of on-campus interaction, ensuring participants are well-equipped for their chosen careers.
Professor Pradyumana Khokle, Dean (Programmes) at IIMA, commented on the program’s extensive nature, combining the reach of online education with the impactful elements achieved through offline engagement. He expects the Online MBA to contribute to developing some of the finest leaders and managers globally.
Professor Joshy Jacob, Chairperson (Online MBA), shared the program’s format. He explained that the curriculum is strategically designed to provide participants with the functional and organizational skills needed to thrive in today’s challenging world. In-person classes at IIMA focus on complex interpersonal and organizational dynamics, while online sessions facilitate quantitative and systematic analysis of relevant content.
The program welcomes applications from working professionals and entrepreneurs with a minimum of three years of full-time work experience and a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. Admissions will be based on an admission test (IIMA Admission Test (IAT)/ CAT/ GMAT/GRE) and a personal interview.
