Punjab education minister launches training for second batch of primary teachers in partnership with Finland

Training for the second group of 72 primary school teachers was inaugurated on March 3 by Finland Ambassador to India Kimmo Lahdevirta and Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.

Following the launch of the training program at Punjab Bhawan in Chandigarh, Bains announced that this group of educators will travel to Finland under the knowledge exchange program on March 15 to get training at the University of Turku.

In addition to discussing the first batch's training at the University of Turku, which took place from Oct 21 to Nov 8 of last year, Bains also had discussions with Lahdevirta and University of Turku experts about how to improve Punjab-Finland cooperation in the field of education in order to raise the state's educational standards.

He highlighted fortifying relations with Finland, a country renowned for its top-notch educational system.

Bains indicated a strong desire to learn from Finland's cutting-edge teaching methods, especially in the areas of digital learning, teacher preparation, and elementary education.

He emphasized how crucial it is to give students the tools they need to thrive in the cutthroat world of today.

The minister emphasized the importance of international cooperation in accomplishing this objective and commended Punjabi educators for implementing innovative teaching strategies that improve student engagement, enjoyment, and effectiveness while providing a strong foundation for the state's educational modernization.

Bains stressed that the teacher training program is an essential step in bringing Punjab's educational system into compliance with worldwide standards and emphasized the state government's commitment to continuously improving the standards.

He reaffirmed the government's commitment to providing teachers with the skills, resources, and training they need to create a relaxed and stimulating learning environment.

Lahdevirta expressed Finland's steadfast support for educational cooperation with Punjab and praised the Punjab government's efforts in the field of education.

He reiterated Finland's commitment to support the government in improving its educational system. He claimed that both sides would gain from the sharing of expertise and best practices.

"To further sustain and expand the impact of the training initiative, the Punjab government is also implementing a 'Train the Trainer' program," Bains said.

Selected teachers are empowered to become trainers through this program, which allows them to impart their skills to other educators and start a chain reaction that will improve Punjab's primary school system as a whole.

He said the goal of this strategy is to develop a sustainable, long-term paradigm for raising educational standards throughout the state.
