Punjab Board rolls out Class 12 entrepreneurship syllabus to foster innovation and self-reliance

Punjab has taken a major step to boost innovation and self-reliance among senior secondary students by finalizing the Class 12 entrepreneurship curriculum, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced on Nov 27.

The new syllabus completes a two-year pathway that began with the introduction of the ‘Business Blaster programme’ for Class 11 during the 2022–23 academic session.

The initiative aims to encourage students across the state to convert ideas into practical ventures and explore self-employment opportunities early in their academic journey.

According to Bains, the PSEB has demonstrated strong commitment to equipping students with future-ready skills by making entrepreneurship a compulsory subject in 3,692 senior secondary schools.

To ensure effective implementation, the board has trained 10,382 teachers and 231 master trainers through 104 specialized training sessions over the past two years.

With textbooks and the Class 12 curriculum ready well ahead of schedule, nearly 5.60 lakh students will be able to continue their entrepreneurship studies seamlessly in the 2026–27 academic year, an official statement said.

Bains highlighted that the curriculum is designed to give students a firm understanding of real-world entrepreneurial practices.

It includes topics such as startup challenges, legal procedures, financial planning, budgeting, business modeling, and the development of sustainable ventures.

The education minister said the program aims to nurture students into job creators rather than job jobseekers.

He noted that Punjab’s youth are increasingly looking beyond traditional career paths and seeking innovative avenues for business creation and economic growth.

The initiative also fulfils a key promise of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led government to strengthen entrepreneurship education in both government and recognized schools.

By providing practical knowledge and building entrepreneurial confidence, the state aims to develop a new generation of business leaders capable of driving Punjab’s economic growth.

The Class 12 curriculum is expected to expand on the foundation laid by the Business Blaster program, enabling students to identify problems, design solutions, and pursue their ideas with greater clarity and structure.
