NEET PG 2025: NRI status verification process begins, MCC sets submission rules

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued an important advisory for NEET PG 2025 candidates seeking to switch their category from Indian to Non-Resident Indian (NRI) for Round 2 counselling.

Applicants must submit all necessary documents within the specified deadline, as late submissions will not be considered.

All applications for NRI status must be sent exclusively via email to [email protected]. The submission window opened at 11 am on Dec 1 and will close at 8 am on Dec 3.

Emails sent outside this period will be automatically rejected. MCC has also instructed candidates to attach all documents in a single email, noting that partial submissions or multiple emails will not be accepted.

The required documents for NRI verification include the NEET PG admit card and scorecard, proof of the parent’s or relative’s NRI status such as a valid passport, visa, residence or work permit, OCI/PIO card if applicable, or an NRI certificate from the relevant embassy or Indian consulate.

Candidates must also provide a relationship certificate issued by the competent Revenue Authority confirming the link between the NRI sponsor and the candidate, along with a notarized affidavit from the NRI relative stating they will cover the candidate’s course fees and living expenses.

This affidavit must be supported by the sponsor’s NRE (Non-Resident External) bank account passbook.

Additionally, candidates should submit academic certificates, including 10th and 12th marksheets and passing certificates, birth certificates, and, optionally, passports of the candidate and the sponsor.

MCC has urged aspirants to regularly visit the official website, www.mcc.nic.in, for updates and detailed instructions regarding category changes.

Failure to adhere to deadlines or submission procedures may result in rejection of the NRI category request for the current counselling round.
